Final Reflection
Experience:
I learned a lot from this module during the whole 14 weeks of study. First of all, my ability to do visual research has improved. At the beginning of this module, I didn't understand the importance of doing visual research and always treated it as a necessary process to do and didn't deal with it seriously. But now I know that doing visual research seriously will help a lot in designing afterward. In addition, after this module, my ability to operate the software has improved a lot, and I have had many opportunities to explore new techniques for using the software to accomplish my tasks, so I am now more familiar with the software.
Observation:
In this module, I observed that we learned more about how to combine typography with images, or how to create a design from our own typefaces, and we were able to touch and learn more about the combination of text and images than we did in the first semester with text layout. For example, in Task 1 we were asked to create the type from images, and in Task 2 we were also creating key artwork. It was interesting for me to do more work with images, and through this semester I will be more interested and sensitive to the typography around me in the future.
Findings:
During these 14 weeks of study, I realized that typography is really an element that appears in everyone's daily life, but most of the time we don't even notice it. Before this, when I was still in my first semester, I thought typography was boring, just some words and letters that wouldn't make any big changes or creativity. But after doing task 3, I realized that typography is actually fun and can be very creative, which is more challenging when we need to follow the principles and rules of typography, but at the same time come up with something creative.
