Final Reflection

Experience

Throughout the whole process of learning typography, I am quite satisfied with my learning, and even though I am not very good at it, I think I have tried my best to explore the fun of learning typography. Before learning this module, I never knew that there were so many details hidden in typefaces, even in a single letter, and it was really interesting for me to learn about them. In addition, mastering type design is not easy, I often have to do a lot of visual research and ideal exploration to get the final work, and sometimes I can't even have satisfactory results. At first, I was sad because the result of my design work was not good and my lecturers were often not satisfied with my work, but in the end, I adjusted my mindset and tried to do more research and work harder to come out with a better design.

Observations

In this module of typography study, I observed that typography is really subtle and everything is in the details. The beauty of typography is hidden in its details, and we are guided to explore it one by one. In the first stage of learning, we learn to observe, and in the second stage of learning, we use the results of our observations to practice and explore, and discover the fun of typography. In addition, learning typography made me more observant and sensitive to typography in daily life. It really improved my observation ability and made me pay more attention to details, which is helpful for me to further study design.

Findings

After completing this module, I discovered that there are many rules and regulations related to typography. Typography is present in many magazines, books, and even on any platform where text exists, and it is much more common than we think. I found that a lot of effort is required behind every text that is comfortable to read. Typography is not all about making the whole visual look pretty and gorgeous, but we often put more effort to make the text readable and comfortable for the viewer.
