Task 02

In task 2, we are asked to find a decisive moment in a movie, animation, manga, or whatever. After that, capture these moments and translate them into a single piece of animated artwork. Below is my visual research and also my sketch for the poster.

Wall-E is one of my favorite animations, so I decided to choose it as my subject in task 2.

The view of the galaxy in the animation is impressive and I really want to include it in my work as a background.

In a scene where Wall-E and Eve are flying through the milky way, there is a flight track behind them, which I thought would be an interesting element to make my work more meaningful. In addition, Wall-E, Eve, and also their flight track will be the middle-ground of my poster.

Two people first realized the beauty of the galaxy and also knew Wall-E will be my foreground.

And this scene in the movie is my decisive moment, and I will try to capture this moment and turn it into my artwork.

Above is my sketch, the milky way as the foreground, the main characters as the middle-ground, and the two people in yellow as the foreground. The whole scene is presented from a one-point perspective.

After the consultation with Miss Anis, I was given feedback that tells my design is too safe and lacks in exploration, so I decided to redesign my work and also change the whole subject from the animation Wall-E to a Korean drama called Goblin.

The above was my decisive moment when Eun-tak proved that she could see the sword stuck in KimShin's chest. The music and lighting in this scene worked well together and give the audience a good visual experience, and this scene also become a classic scene in this drama.
At first, I took a screenshot of the decisive moment in the drama and traced both actors' outlines using pen tools.

After tracing the outline, I fill it in with color and also shadow

Then I find the poster of this drama and use Adobe Photoshop to remove the background and get the drama's logo without the background.

I use the color palette downloaded from the Internet to create the background and also traced out another photo to increase the elements in my poster.

I use the technique I learned last week to create a semi-transparent gradient, and finally, I choose the square gradient to insert into my poster.

By the way, I also downloaded a fog image from the Internet and remove its background using Adobe Photoshop.

After that, I realized that we are not allowed to drag the picture into our poster directly, we should find the reference photos and trace them ourselves.

Since I couldn't find a suitable typeface for the title of my poster, I searched online and trace it out.

So, below is my final submission for task 2.

Above are the movements I make for the animation.

I created 25 pieces of images to turn into animations, but in the end, I just use 19 of the images to create animation.

And below is my gif. that create from my poster.

Since the deadline for task 2 was extended, I made some improvements to my gif. I improved Eun-take action and also the movement of snow.
