Week 5 lecture recap:

We learn double exposure in week 5, double exposure photography refers to the merging of multiple images. Its purpose is to make the image become surreal, emotional, or humorous. They are usually characterized by silhouettes. The double exposure effect may seem complicated at first. But it is easy to create in-camera and in Adobe Photoshop. In the editing field, you have endless possibilities. You can turn ordinary photos into powerful masterpieces.

Project 2A: Double exposure

We were asked to download all the images provided and follow the tutorial demo video to create a double-exposure artwork using the images provided. Also, we were supposed to take our own pictures and create our own double-exposure work.

Here is the work I created following the tutorial demonstration video.

Figure 1.1 Double exposure following tutorial demo

Here's what I created with my own photos, I create two pieces, but in the end, I select the second one (figure 5.3) as the final submission for the double exposure exercise because I added a filter to it to make it look a little nicer.

I learned a lot about Adobe Photoshop in this exercise, and it was fun to create our own work in addition to following the tutorial's demo.

Week 6 lecture recap:

We were asked to watch the videos given to us about the basics of photography in preparation for week 7. At the same time, we could start thinking about the ideas for project 2C: imaginative and creative ideas.

Project 2A: Digital imaging exercise 1- Hearst Mansion

Figure 2.1 Hearst mansion

There is my work created following the tutorial demo.

Figure 2.2 Process of Hearst mansion

We have to adjust the hue and tones to make the picture fit the background better.

Then, add the shadows to make it more natural.

In addition, add an inverted image to it.

Finally, adjust the hue and tones once again.

Week 7 lecture recap:

In this lecture, we learned about digital photography. We were given a briefing about exposure settings, which include iris, shutter speed, and iso. We also learned about lens perspective and the difference between DSLRs and our smartphones.

Project 2B: Digital imaging exercise 2- Recoloring Black and White

Figure 3.7 Black and white picture

Figure 3.8 Recoloring black and white picture

Above is the work I created by following the tutorial's demo. The technique of recoloring black and white photos needs a lot of patience and care

Above is my work, I observed that we need a color pallet to create better work as we have to imagine the color of the photo by ourselves.

Week 9 lecture recap:

In week 9, we were given a lecture on digital surrealism. We learned the difference between realism and surrealism and we were asked to think about the idea of digital surrealism, in the next session we were asked to come up with our sketch idea.

Week 10 lecture recap:

We were given an intro to after effects, Adobe After Effects is a 2.5D animation software used for animation, visual effects, and motion picture compositing.

The goal of project 2B was to take a set of photos that could be combined and that were visually irrational. My idea for this project was to combine two different fruits together and form one fruit, the message that I would like to convey was: don't judge people by their appearance. The fruits most readily available to me were apples and oranges, so I decided to use those two fruits to complete my project 2B.

process

I took many photos of apple and orange just to get the perfect angle and also the best perspective for my future editorial work.

When editing using Photoshop, first I removed the background of the orange.

Then I dragged the photo of the orange into the photo of the hand holding the apple and adjusted the orange until it matched the apple exactly.

Last but not least, add a filter to the photo and create a new background for it, making it more visually contrasting.

Here is my final outcome for project 2B.
